Budget Vacation
Costa Rica is a good place for
a budget vacation. Food, lodging, buses and
pleasure can be found at very low prices everywhere.
Budget Hotel
There are many hotels, priced from ultra low to of the chart high. My experience is that even low priced (from $50 per night and lower) hotel rooms often are quite good. It will depend on what you're looking for in terms of service and luxury of course.
If you're the Hilton 5 star type, well, then you'll go to the top of the line Hilton hotels and similar. You probably wont even worry about how much the room is.
The $50 rooms are for people on tight budgets that really only see the hotel room as a place to sleep and nothing more.
Avoid Fine Restaurants and Fancy

There are plenty of sodas where
you can buy very good local food at extremely
low prices. And it is always cooked in that
place.
Go to the beaches
The beaches are cheap when it
comes to gettgin wet and sunbathing. But almost
all of the more famous beaches can be a bit
high in costs when it comes to food and lodging.
The trick is to stay away from
anything looking like an hotel (both for sleeping
and eating). Try talking to people in San José
before going to the playa.
Most people know someone or som
eplace where you can rent a room or two cheap
and they always know about the best places to
eat.
